Herring gull    Larus argentatus

This leucistic herring gull was seen on Richmond bank,Cheshire on 4/2/08. It was first viewed very distant and into strong sun and mistakenly thought it was an iceland gull. I now realise it is a Leucistic herring gull. An interesting bird and I have never seen one before. I managed some flight shots a couple of days later and shows the plumage markings nicely. This very distinctive bird remained in the area for about a week.
